Training!
Hello Everyone!
I apologize that you haven't heard from me in so long! It is madness here (good madness of course) and I haven't had much time to sit down with good 'ol blogger and write. I promise to get better though! I have been doing front desk at the All Star resorts for about 4 weeks now, and should be training for Concierge next week. I thought I should probably tell ya'll how my experience was training for front desk.
Disney University
I started my adventure at Disney University (DU), which is the building where a lot of magic happens. Some people go there to work in the many offices they have there, but that is also where CP's go for classroom training. After Welcome to Lodging, which was at DU, my roommate Wendi and I had Destination Cashier at DU. This is the class where we learned to be a front desk cashier. We had to learn how to do front desk, the later on we learn how to concierge. This was about 3 days, and we had the same trainers each day. We learned how to uses the computer program to check-in guests called Lilo (yes...like Lilo and Stitch). I really enjoyed these classes, and I met lot's of awesome people!
On The Job Training
Front desk training was 5 days, and it wasn't bad at all! I got to the All Star Sports for my first day. I can be scheduled at any of the 3 themes at the All Star's. For training I spent my first 2 days at Sports, 2 days at Music, then finished my training at Movies. The first day was fun. I had a wonderful trainer named Josh. He was fun and fabulous and introduced me most people at the All Star's. I felt like I knew so many people by the end of training.
Every day we spent an hour going over our folder and talking about what I learned and will learn. I shadowed Josh for about an hour, then started on the desk. It's completely up to you when you start on the computer, and some people wait until the next day. We practiced for 5 days, then the last day I was observed. I passed! Yay! Then I started working on my own! I have been ever since, and I should be training for concierge soon. I am later than everyone else for some reason, but they have limited space at DU so I will be in the last group!
I will be posting soon about what I have been doing in my spare time, as well as about my visit from Noah! We stayed at the ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE... it was awesome...
Keep Looking Here for more!
It will be coming soon, and see ya real soon!
