About Disney's College Program

January 13, 2016
The Disney College Program is an amazing opportunity where you can live in Orlando and work for Walt Disney World.  It's a wonderful learning experience, and looks great on a resume.

Housing

There are specific housing complexes for the College Program Members: The Commons, Patterson Court, Chatham Square, and Vista Way. Disney will take money from your paycheck weekly for the rent, and you do get paid to work! You have many options regarding how many people you live with. You could be assigned anywhere from a 1 bedroom, 2 person apartment to a 4 bedroom, 8 person apartment. Usually there are two people in a room, but they also have triple occupancy rooms where there are 3 people in each room (This is what I had my first semester). The rent changes according to which room you are assigned. When they send you your DORMS email, each group will have the opportunity to rank which type of room you prefer and which complex (Only one member from your requested group will do this). However, you are not guaranteed anything in particular. I know people who were assigned their last choice. It all works out though I promise! If you extend, and your apartment drops below 50% occupancy, you will move again. I moved from Chatham to The Commons.

Roles
Here is a list of all the roles you can apply for when doing the Disney College Program. When applying, you rank each role with high interest, moderate interest, low interest, or no interest. Disney likes flexibility, so be open!! There are no small roles, and each has it's unique benefits. Also keep in mind that if you put any interest at all, even low interest, you could get that role! If there is something you absolutely can not do, don't check it off. Once you are accepted into the DCP, they will offer you a role. You either accept your DCP offer and role, or no DCP. You can not change your role, unless you extend. Then you will have the offer to switch roles, and you request 5. You will then be notified of your role location.

Play!
Yes, you get free admission in to all Disney Theme Parks for free as a castmember using a special ticket called a Main Entrance Pass! You will receive this in the mail after completing Traditions, your first day of training. The only limitations are block out dates. This is when cast members are not allowed to enter parks using their Main Entrance Pass. You will also receive Guest Passes. These are good for 6 days of entrance, but not each! All Guest Passes hold the same amount of days on them. If your mom visits you, and she uses one guest pass for 4 days in the park, all 6 Guest passes now only have 2 days left on them. These passes are hoppers, so you can go to all parks in one day and still only use one guest pass. These also have block out dates, so check them when you start your program.
